An Interview with Clare Brown Meneely

She is queen of the social media scene and she is taking the fashion world by storm, one tweet at a time. After seeing her clad in plaid on the pages of Teen Vogue, I knew she had to be the first ever interview on the blog. I was lucky enough to chat with her and we talked 60's French pop music, Italian food and the importance of standing out in the fashion industry. Meet Virginia native, Clare Brown Meneely, manager of social media and digital communications for Maybelline New York.

If I were stuck on a deserted island, three things I would take are ...
Sunscreen, a cell phone, maybe a band of brick layers, plumbers and electricians that could build me a small, fully functioning house? Can that last one count as one thing?

The best advice I've ever been given is ...
Don't work hard, work smart.

My favorite band is ...
Oh man, my taste in music is always changing. Right now I love 60's French pop music. It is so weird/embarrassing.

One of my greatest experiences in my fashion career -- so far -- was ...
Probably starting my blog. It is one of the best things I ever did.

The most exotic place I've ever traveled to is ...
Costa Rica.

My favorite food is ...
Pretty much anything Italian or heavy on the carbs. I could eat a loaf of bread and consider it the best meal I ever had.

My favorite dessert is ...
Those tiny little fruit tarts they serve at weddings and events. OMG I could eat those forever.

The last book I read was ...
The Book Thief.

One thing people wouldn't know about me by looking at me is ...
I have really terrible vision. Like really terrible. Often people will wave at me from a distance and I won't wave back because I can't see who they are haha.

The best part about being a being the manager of social media and digital communications is ...
Getting to be online all day. I am obsessed with the Internet. Seriously. It's bad.

My wardrobe mostly consists of ...
Full skirts,  basic tees, flats.

I'm looking forward to ....
This summer. It was the longest winter of my life. I can't tell you how excited I am that it is summer.

If I wasn't working in fashion, right now I'd be ...
An actress. Or a substitute teacher. Not a real teacher though, just s sub because it's all the fun and none of the grading.

I look up to ...
My parents.

If I could say one thing to those aspiring to work in the fashion industry, it would be ...
Fashion is very cluttered field. Do something to stand out.
